Last November I became a pilot. Passengers can now go with me on flights, and I delight in sharing the local area from the air. My plane has a new engine overhaul, a professional cleaning, and is finally in a nice cozy hanger for protection.
Tami has been up on two short flights with me before today–both were scenic flights over Lake Anna and our house. This morning was a bigger challenge for her, a 2 and a half hour flight over Monticello, Charlottesville and UVA, Massanutten Mountain, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and up the Shenandoah Valley to Harpers Ferry. The day was beautifully clear, the air only a little bumpy when low, and the passenger quite brave. The winter mountain landscape reminded Tami of the southwest, brown and dry looking. Wait until she sees Skyline Drive from the air in the fall!
N66717 is hangered in Louisa, VA near our home at Lake Anna, as you can see from our flight path. Here are a few shots Tami took from the air. First is the Rotunda at UVA.
The rest are shots of Harpers Ferry where the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers meet. Great flight. gauging by her willingness to fly again.
